Compact machines run under ten tons, the mid range covers ten to thirty, and thirty to fifty tons is the top of a normal hire fleet. Mass excavators of eighty to a hundred tons exist as specialist hire in a few markets. Above that sit mining machines that are bought, assembled on site and never appear on a rental rate sheet.
The trailer decides the machine
A big excavator travels as an oversize load: permits, a routed run, sometimes an escort, and often the boom or the counterweight removed and carried separately. What a machine that size is actually for
