It lifts to clear the floor, nothing more
The forks rise a few inches so the pallet can travel. If anything has to go onto a rack, into a stack or up onto a bench, this is the wrong machine and the counter will point you at a stacker or a counterbalanced truck at a different rate. Say where the pallet ends up when you book.
Battery type changes how the week runs
A lead acid machine wants a proper charge cycle and a place to sit while it takes one, which usually means overnight. A lithium unit takes opportunity charges at breaks and suits two shifts. Ask which the yard is sending, and confirm the charger plugs into a circuit that exists where the machine will park.
Trailers, dock plates and ramps
Loaded, one of these plus the operator is a lot of weight in a small footprint, so the dock plate rating and the trailer floor both matter. Most are not built to work on a slope; travelling down a ramp with a loaded pallet in front of you is how they get away from people. Check the manual limit.

Can an electric pallet jack go up a loading ramp?
Only if the manufacturer rates it for that grade, and many are rated for a very shallow one loaded. Going down is the greater risk, since the load is in front and the machine is heavy. If the site has a real ramp, discuss it with the yard rather than finding out at the top of it.
How long does a battery last on a shift?
A typical unit will do a full shift of ordinary picking and loading on one charge, with less if it is moving heavy pallets continuously or working a cold store. If the operation runs two shifts, the answer is either a lithium machine or a second battery, so mention the hours when booking.
Does the operator need training?
Yes. A powered pallet truck is a powered industrial truck, so the employer must train, evaluate and authorise anyone who operates it for that machine and that workplace. The yard hands over the manual and a familiarisation on the controls, which is helpful and is not a substitute for that training.
