The blower is the piece doing the work
Ventilation is what makes an entry survivable, and it is hired by the diameter of the duct and the volume it moves. An eight or twelve inch blower with fifteen to twenty five feet of ducting is the usual set. Position it upwind of the opening so it draws clean air, and leave it running for the whole entry.
Tripod and winch are one retrieval system
The tripod straddles the opening, the winch or fall arrester attaches at the head, and the line runs to a full body harness on the entrant. Legs, head, winch and line are matched by the manufacturer and are hired as an assembly. Do not mix a winch off one maker with another maker's tripod because the counter had both.
A monitor is only worth its calibration date
Four gas instruments read oxygen, flammable gas, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide, and hire is typically ten to twenty five dollars a day. Ask for the current calibration certificate and for the bump test gas, and check the date on the instrument itself. An out of date monitor reads numbers that nobody should act on.
What the yard supplies and what it does not
The yard supplies calibrated hardware, ducting, harnesses and lighting. It does not supply the entry permit, the attendant standing at the opening, the rescue plan or your crew's training. Where machinery inside the space can start, isolating and locking it out stays with the employer as well, and no rental line covers any of that.
